Question: What is a SEER?

Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating.
Older Equipment may be rated 8 or 10 SEER. In 2006 the EPA required new production equipment to meet a 13 SEER minimum. Equipment that meets the Energy Tax Credit is usually 14, 15, or 16 SEER depending on the type of system. Each improvement in SEER rating reduces energy usage by about 6%. For example, upgrading your system from 10 SEER to 13 SEER will reduce energy consumption by about 18%.
